Bali Happened too | Travel
visiting bali was magical. bali is magical. traveling with great friends, in a new part of the world was experience that i will never forget. from meeting great friends across the world in singapore, then finding out a good friend runs a BEAUTIFUL bed in breakfast in the heart of ubud named ByDorry. I almost died on a moped multiple times, and oh yah, I ate durian.
France Happened | travel
a few things i learned during our travels to london, paris, loire valley, and normandy.#1. london is for the rich. the very rich.#2. paris surprised me this time. i wrote it off last time. its a wonderful, sometimes magical city.#3. the country side is france is full of VERY kind people. incredibly. we were welcomed everywhere we went.#4. normandy. well. every american should have to visit. how else can our generation, or the next realize the magnitude that was sacrificed for what they currently have? more field trips should be spent on this instead of anywhere else. one of the most reflecting times of my life.#5. i'm terrible at french.
i love my friends | MARFA revisited
found these while organizing last night. on FILM in MARFA. i love this place. and these people.
the lion vs the gorilla |
never forget | 2013
after visiting the beaches of Normandy, and the American Cemetery and Memorial i am a firm believer that every American should visit Normandy. every one of us. i've never felt more appreciation for everything i have than while walking through the field of graves; imagining what each and every man and woman buried here COULD have done with their life. children? grandchildren? inventors? photographers? instead, they gave their life for many. never forget.
Marfa 2012 | by video
video. is very. DAUNTING. i can't tell you how many hours this took me to me make. i can't tell how AMAZING it felt to finish. what i can tell you is that i couldn't have done it without a few people. brittan pittman & melissa fitzgerald. thank you BOTH. brittan for helping me with all the nuances of premiere which i had never opened until i started this project, and to melissa for watching and listening to this video..at least 353 times. seriously. thank you thank you thank you.to all: just to get an idea of how special this trip was. we were also included on this show by NBC New York; which can be seen here. every guy on the trip DID in fact hit on Ali.http://www.nbcnewyork.com/video/#!/the-scene/events/Ali-Finds-Her-Desert-Oasis-at-El-Cosmico-in-Marfa/170713476to my marfians. it was truly an HONOR to make this for us. i say us because during this trip i think we all know we built some weird hippie shit love out there in west texas. i love each and every one of you. thank you SAM for putting this together. seriously. the most humble badass that i know. your chuck norris without all the jokes. the most interesting man in the world without the radio spots. you are a remarkable man, and i think we're all very glad to know you.this is my first video. but not my last. brittan inspired me to do this by watching his summer videos over and over. to be able to gift this video to my friends is an incredible honor. now..i'll shut up, and you can watch. enjoy!ps. the black and white injection in the middle is the "tequila faces" that was spawned from marika horn's brain. :)
Marfa 2012 | in photos
you know those trips you take in your life, and you'll absolutely never forget them? the ones that you remember 20, 30 years later? this was one of those trips. a few blog posts give it no justice whatsoever but i am going to do my best with the words i have here, and the documentation i'm going to provide. this will all prove that this was by far the best f'ing trip to marfa ever. it even beats beyonce. tip: if you go with a ton of friends, or maybe 1 other friend..stay at the friggin' el cosmico. its amazing. its exactly how marfa should always be enjoyed.this trip completely allow me to let loose creatively; document my friends throughout a 3 day period. not only did i take a few photos, but was really dedicated to creating my first video from this trip. i'll be posting that shortly also. enjoy for now :)
A little Bali on FILM
A little Bali on FILM
I went to NASA | and LOVED it.
Growing up in the country, the thought of space was at my fingertips. Every night, I had a full view of the universe. I was the weirdo kid who would rather have ended up in space on Silver Surfer's board, rather than a spaceship; but either way I was absolutely fascinated by it...and still am.Thankfully, I am blessed to have several VERY talented, smart, and driven friends. Two of those guys include Victor and Jimmy; both top secret NASA nerds. I was invited to the Fifth installment of the NASA takeover last week; and am PUMPED to show you the photos from it. The guys take their day off to show us around..and watch us drool like little babies. Who knew that the buttons in the Russian Space Station look like Russian elevator buttons? Or, did you ever stop to think that while in space DUST in one of the major issues we have due to it not settling on the ground. Instead, we run the risk of constantly scratching our cornea due to the exposure. These are the things that guys like Victor & Jimmy are constantly trying to research and make better. Recreating how we live..all over again..IN F'ING SPACE!Enjoy.
